What makes your work different?
My undergraduate degree is in journalism with minors in graphic design and visual art which plays a huge role in my style of photography. I have formal training in fine art, as well as a lot of experience in telling stories in a compelling and accurate way. My photography is a combination of editorial and documentary styles. I love capturing moments for what they are and highlighting the in between things that go unnoticed in an artistic and intentional way. While my verbal approach is more candid, as I give my couples a lot of direction and encouragement to help them look and feel their best, my shooting style is more editorial in the way I compose images utilizing light and color theory.
How do you prepare for the wedding day?
I pride myself in how detail oriented and organized I am when it comes to preparation. Before the wedding, we’ll do a few phone consultations throughout the planning process. I also send out a full 40+ page wedding prep guide to help you set your day up for photo success (if photos are important to you!). Two months out from the wedding I’ll send a detailed questionnaire walking you through exactly what and how to send all of your wedding day info to me, then I compile a detailed day-of run sheet and photo timeline.
How do you ensure our photos are safe and sound?
We use dual card-slot cameras, this means each shot at your wedding is recorded in 2 places simultaneously. Then, after the wedding, your images are backed up onto an external hard drive, a laptop & the cloud (your photos live in 5 places!).
What is the turnaround time for weddings and sessions?
We understand this is huge to our clients' experience, thus we give a quick turnaround. We deliver weddings in 2-3 weeks to ensure each photo is processed carefully, but you'll get sneak peeks within 48h of the event.
We’ve never had professional photos taken before, can you help direct us?
Yes!! You do not have to be models to have beautiful wedding photos! I give my clients lots of direction and encouragement when you’re in front of the lens to make you feel comfortable and confident the whole time. I am your personal hype woman for the day – but in a calmer sense of the word. I'm more soft-spoken and relaxed but also have the ability to take command in chaotic environments (like wrangling your entire family for family photos).
Can you travel for my wedding?
Absolutely! We love to travel. It's a big part of what we do and we're more than happy to come along to different places. We do custom packages including travel. You can see the starting prices here.
How far in advance should I book my wedding/session?
Weddings typically book 10-12 months out, and my sessions about 4-6 weeks out! My months typically fully book at least 2 months out for lifestyle sessions, and 10-12 months out for weddings.
Do you have experience working in different lighting and weather situations?
Absolutely! Weddings are extremely uncontrolled environments and I have lots of experience working all types of weddings, handling different family dynamics and taking control of situations when necessary.
